Police apprehend man for ATM card swapping in Rivers

Operatives of the Rivers State Police Command have successfully apprehended one Promise Dogoh, a 23-year-old native of Kamnor community in Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State, who specialized in swapping ATM Cards, belonging to individuals at several ATM points in Rivers State and subsequently stealing money from their accounts.

The suspect however ran out of luck  at an ATM gallery in Artillery, where he successfully swapped the ATM card of a victim and withdrew the sum of N 640,000, leaving the victim with nothing in his account.

In a statement by the Acting Police Public Relation Officer, DSP Grace Iringe-Koko said the frustrated victim reported the matter to Operatives of the State Command who promptly swung into action and arrested the culprit and he is currently helping the Police in the investigation and shall soon appear in court.

Acting PPRO’s statement further said the Commissioner of Police, CP Eboka Friday, admonished the good people of Rivers State to be wary of strangers at ATM galleries and desist from seeking assistance from them, but should rather approach staffers of the banks who can easily be identified should anything go wrong.
