Court remands Rivers governorship aspirant, Farah Dagogo

Federal lawmaker and Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship aspirant, Doctor Farah Dagogo, has been remanded in police custody till May 9 by a magistrate court in Port Harcourt.

This followed his arraignment Friday  morning.

Dagogo who represents Degema/Bonny Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives and governorship hopeful of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),  was arrested on the directives of Governor Nyesom Wike at the PDP Zonal Office, venue for the screening of governorship aspirants in Port Harcourt on Thursday.

who confirmed the arrest said Dagogo was arrested in the governorship screening hall by some police officers and taken to an unknown destination.

Wike had Wednesday, declared the lawmaker wanted for allegedly sponsoring ‘cultists’ to disrupt the screening of national and state assembly aspirants at the state party secretariat, an allegation Dagogo had vehemently denied.

Port Harcourt Spectator  reports that a magistrate court had on Thursday, remanded fifteen persons in the Port Harcourt Correctional Centre for alleged involvement in the disruption of the screening exercise  of the PDP. 

It was reported that when the PDP governorship aspirant arrived court for arraignment Friday morning, the presiding Chief Magistrate, A.O Amadi-Nna after sighting the two count charge of conspiracy to felony and cultism against the defendant  ordered that he should be sent back to police custody before adjourning till 9th of May, 2022 for possible arraignment and consideration of bail application.
