Rivers APC : Abe’s loyalist satisfied with screening process

By: Felix Ikpotor

A staunch loyalist of Senator Magnus Abe in Rivers State, Innocent Ajaelu has expressed satisfaction with the screening process of aspirants for state constituency positions in the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State.

Ajaelu, who is an aspirant for Oyigbo State Constituency stated this while speaking with newsmen at the party secretariat in GRA, Port Harcourt shortly after his screening on Thursday.

Ajaelu scored the screening committee eighty percent.

“I have just been screened, the process is transparent and they gave everybody free chance to submit your documents. We were scared initially that we weren’t going to be screened because we didn’t know them. Anybody can come from anywhere and claim that the party sent him. But having come here today and they showed us evidence that they are from National Secretariat, we submitted ourselves for screening. From what I see here, I score them eighty percent unless there is something else they are not telling us but from what I have seen here, there is no grey area”, he said.

Asked if he was afraid of being disqualified, the State House of Assembly hopeful said, “it’s only the Supreme Court that can disqualify me and I will say I’m being disqualified”.

He expressed strong confidence of winning the elections in his constituency.

Port Harcourt Spectator reports that members of Abe led faction of the APC on Wednesday protested against the screening process and alleged hijack of materials for ward congresses by the Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi faction.

It further reported that the committee sent by the party later on Wednesday, announced that all aspirants from the Abe faction should present themselves today (Thursday) for screening.
