Rivers South East: I’m equipped, prepared for Senate – Mpigi

Senator Barinada Mpigi says he is set, equipped and prepared to continue to provide effective representation to the people of Rivers South-East Senatorial District at the National Assembly of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Mpigi made this declaration after securing a second term mandate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP at the Senatorial primary election which took place in Bori.

“All I’m preparing for now is to accomplish the three main goals of lawmaking, representation and oversight. I am quite set, equipped and prepared for it. We’ve started something and there are alot of things we’ve not concluded which we’ve to conclude for the people of the Senatorial District”, he said.

The experienced federal lawmaker thanked God for giving him the opportunity to return to the Senate and the Peoples Democratic Party for believing in him.

” I thank God for this one more opportunity to come to serve my people. And I want to reassure the Peoples Democratic Party that your choice of Senator Barinada Mpigi is the right choice. It’s the right choice because there’s one good thing in the National Assembly, which is, the older the better. And why is it the older, the better, because you’ve known the environment and can move confidently in the chambers.”

Mpigi, assured the party in the district of the readiness of all elected candidates at the various PDP primaries to embark on a ward to ward tour to consult and thank them for their goodwill.

He said, “The job has just started, my colleagues at the national assembly and those of the state House of Assembly that are going back, we’ll start ward consultation almost immediately. We’ll touch all the 88 wards of this Senatorial District to tell our party people thank you”.

Senator Mpigi described his choice by the PDP as the right choice and expressed confidence that he will sail to victory in the 2023  election.

” At the end of this nomination here of my political party, looking across the 88 wards of this Senatorial District, I don’t see anybody standing in any election against me. I can tell you that I am sure the red chamber has come again, he declared,” he posited.

On the issue of security and development of the district,  Mpigi said his policy direction will includes collaboration with government at all levels and security agencies to ensure that the district develops into an industrial hub and to provide adequate security for lives and property of the people.

” I’ll continue to collaborate with His Excellency the Governor to make sure Ogoniland and the people of Andoni,Opobo,Nkoro and Oyigbo have peace. I can assure you that we’ll try and see if we can work further to try to make here become an industrial hub.

So far so good, the seven Chairmen of the seven LGAs in the Senatorial District have been very wonderful. I’ll also continue to collaborate with them on security to make sure the Senatorial District becomes a safe haven,” he said.
