Gunmen kill driver in Rivers community

One Uchechi Anele, a driver and native of Obele Community, in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State, has been reportedly shot dead by suspected gunmen.

Anele was killed on Wednesday 1st June, 2022, in the community.

Elder brother of the deceased, Emmanuel Anele, who spoke to our correspondent narrated that his younger brother had gone to the village that fateful day to pack some of his belongings since people have deserted the community due to insecurity issues in the area only to be murdered by gunmen.

He explained that when he got the news of his brother’s death, he went and reported the matter to Rumuji Divisional Police Headquarters where he was given a Police escort who accompanied him to the community to evacuate the corpse of his brother to the mortuary.

He, however, dismissed the insinuation making rounds that his late brother, Uchechi Anele was a cultist.

Anele lamented that the deceased is married with children and was gainfully employed and had no record of crime, adding that his late brother was a responsible person before his death.
