PHCCIMA urges Taiwanese investors to look towards Rivers

President of the Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (PHCCIMA)  Sir Mike Elechi, has called for increased investment into key sectors of Rivers State economy by Taiwanese investors.

The chamber president made the call when he visited the Counsellor and Representative of Taipei Trade Office in Nigeria, Mr. Andy Yih-Ping Liu in Lagos, recently.

Elechi, who was accompanied by the elected council member and Chairman, Trade Missions Desk, Mrs. Florence Nwosibe, highlighted various investment opportunities in the state including Oil and Gas, Agriculture, Petrochemicals, Shipping and Logistics, ICT, Tourism and Hospitality, Commerce and Trade sectors, and requested for trade visits of Taiwanese investors to the state.

Andy with the Deputy Counsellor, Joana C.J. Mai, who accorded Elechi and Head of Chamber Trade Missions Desk warm reception, expressed gratitude to the chamber president and the entire members of the chamber, assuring them of the trade office’s partnership with the chamber.

He promised to create linkages between the chamber and the Kaoshsiung City Government and other Taiwan Trade Promotion Agencies for Trade and Commerce expansion in the South-South region, promising also to create a Smart City in Port Harcourt.

Andy also expressed gladness at the level of protection and immunity the trade office and Taiwanesecompanies are enjoying in Nigeria.

In course of the business visit, both organisations agreed to foster stronger and long term bilateral business relationships by carving out memorandum of understanding to bind their business co-operations.
