Police confirm killing of ASP in Rivers

Suspected assassins have killed an Assistant Superintendent of Police ASP attached to the Rivers State Police Command

He was shot dead at Oyigbo local government area axis of the State on Tuesday.

It was  gathered that the yet-to-be-identified officer was ambushed by the gunmen while returning from work in the area.

According to locals, the late ASP was rushed to the hospital immediately the shooting occurred but  died while receiving treatment.

Spokesperson of Rivers State Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, who confirmed the incident said the command has set up a machinery to forestall the repeat of such incidents.

She also said investigation into the killing has been ordered by the Commissioner of Police with the

view of bringing the perpetrators to book.
