RSU suspends lecturer over sex allegations

Management of the Rivers State University, RSU, has suspended a former Head of Department of Microbiology of the school, Professor David Ogbonna over sex allegations.

Ogbonna is currently standing trial before a Port Harcourt Magistrate Court over sexual accusations by a 20- year-old student of the school.

Ogbonna who has earlier been in police custody was last week, granted bail to the tune N2,000,000 (Two million naira) with other stringent measures.

His suspension was contained in a statement by the registrar of the school, Dr. S. C Enyindah following the preliminary report of the  Ethics Committee of the school.

The report we gathered has been forwarded to the Disciplinary Committee on Staff Matters for detailed investigation and further recommendations.
