2023: PDP’ll win Degema, Rivers overwhelmingly– Chairman assures

Ahead of the 2023 general elections,  Chairman of Degema Local Government area in Rivers State, Michael John Williams , has expressed confidence that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) will record a landslide victory, both in Degema LGA and Rivers State at large.

The Chairman, while addressing stakeholders, comprising the leadership of the PDP and the Grassroots Development Initiative (GDI) of the 17 Wards and the LGA, at the council secretariat, Wednesday, noted that the party’s sterling performance, both at the LGA and State levels, would speak for it, adding that the 2023 elections would be about presentation of visible scorecard and not about gimmicks and rhetoric.

He maintained that the PDP had continued to win elections in the LGA since 1999, owing to the fact that the party had always kept its social contract with the people at the grassroots, by bringing the dividends of democracy to them, without excuses.

“PDP will win Degema LGA and Rivers State because the party is working.

“It is not about sharing money during elections, but about addressing the people’s basic needs by bringing democratic dividends to them,” he stated.

The council boss used the occasion to dispel rumours in certain quarters that the party was embroiled in internal wrangling, maintaining that the party in the LGA was united and more than ever resolved to deliver all candidates of the PDP from “top to bottom.”

He enjoined the party leaders to work in synergy with other stakeholders, to ensure that the party continues to record more feats in electoral victories.

The council boss urged all those who might be aggrieved in one way or the other, to let go such grievances in the best interest of the party, noting that the party’s survival was critical for all ambitions and aspirations to be actualized at the appointed time.

“If you love PDP, don’t use whatever platform you occupy to run down the party.

“We are all here today as leaders because of the magnanimity of Governor Nyesom Wike.

“I am Council Chairman today and Peter Abbey is our House of Assembly Candidate, tomorrow might be your turn, so see the task ahead as a duty you owe yourselves as committed party men,” Williams added.

In their separate speeches, the party leaders commended the council chairman for his commitment to the unity and growth of the party.

Chairman of the party in the area and PDP candidate for Degema Constituency in the Rivers House of Assembly,  Peter Abbey, thanked the council boss for his laudable achievements in office, adding that his performance has made the 2023 elections a walkover for the PDP in Degema. Abbey, who clarified that there were no divisions or wrangling in the party, added that the giant projects of Governor Nyesom Wike and those of the council chairman, littered across the LGA, would campaign for itself, as the electorates would gladly appreciate the PDP with their votes.
