Be loyal and committed, PDP chairman tells returnees

As more members of the All Progressives Congress continue to return to The Peoples Democratic Party in Rivers State, chairman of the party in the state, Ambassador Desmond Akawor has advised them to be loyal, committed and avoid double standards in order to be taken seriously in the party.

Addressing a group of returnees from Tai local government area, under the aegis of Tai Rebirth Convention led by a former council chairman of Khana, Hon Greg Barile Nwidam at the state party secretariat Aba Road, Port Harcourt on Thursday, Akawor said people who play double standard are always not taken seriously in the society.

He advised those still sitting on the fence to emulate those who have already taken the bull by the horn by returning to the PDP, assuring that those who have returned back to the Party would have no course to regret as they would be properly integrated into the system.

Ambassador Akawor who said he was happy that new members are joining the Party on a daily basis, noted that everyone is elated by the development.

“All of you who have come back today will not have any course to regret. There is no member of the party that will not be happy if they have members from the other party coming back. I Thank all of you for coming back to your party. You are coming at the right time when a new government is about to be formed”.

He assured that the leadership of the party would ensure that everybody is brought together and given a sense of belonging.

Citing the case of the biblical prodigal son, he said everyone who returned back to the party would be received with great joy.

The PDP Chairman also advised them not to listen to gossips but evaluate every information in order to decipher the truth from rumours.

Welcoming them on behalf of the leader of the party and Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike, Ambassador Desmond Akawor said a proper reception would be organised for them and thanked Hon Greg Nwidam for bringing them back to the party.

Earlier, leader of the group and former chairman of Khana Local Government Council, Greg Nwidam said he decided to bring some of those who left the APC with him from Tai to the PDP Chairman, disclosing that those from other Ogoni local government areas would be introduced later.

Nwidam said they were prepared to work with the Peoples Democratic Party in Rivers State to form the new government in 2023 and requested for proper integration, adding that they are back to add value to the party.

Other speakers including Hon Jolly Ngbor, and Kenule Amanikpo said they were back to work for the party but asked that they should not be forgotten in the scheme of things.
