Thugs, cultists disrupt meeting of Atiku’s group in Rivers

A meeting of the National Mandate Group , an organization with the objective of  to promoting the presidential flagbearer of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar was disrupted on Sunday in Bori, headquarters of Khana local council in Rivers State by suspected cultist and thugs.

The meeting was held at a property belonging to Senator Lee Maeba and located opposite the Divisional Police Station in Bori with the DSS office and Chairman’s Lodge adjacent to it.

Convener of the meeting a former Commissioner for Employment Generation and Economic Empowerment in the state, Dr Leloonu Nwibubasa and spokesman of National Mandate Group in the state who confirmed the incident alleged that thugs and cultist associated with the Khana Local Government Chairman, Dr. Thomas Bariere invaded the meeting which started about 2:00pm on Sunday, said PDP Chairman in the area, Mr Lenebari Inaania led the invaders.

 The Party Chairman was quoted as saying that he was directed by the council chairman to stop the group from holding the meeting, stressing that the agenda for the meeting which was to mobilize the grassroots for Atiku is offensive to the leadership of the party in the state.

Port Harcourt Spectator reports that Khana council chairman, Bariere Thomas  had yesterday ordered the divisional police officer incharge of the area to investigate those who conveyed the meeting.

The state governor, Nyesom Wike had over the weekend threatened to clampdown on all supporters of Atiku considered to be enemies of the state.

Already, he has closed down a fuel station and two hotels belonging to Atiku’s loyalists in the state.

Also, unconfirmed reports say the structure has been penciled down for demolition by the authorities.
