Rivers NYCN chairman laments absence of government’s presence in Ogoni community

Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Rivers State chapter, Comrade NwisaBari Bani has lamented the lack of government’s presence in Sii community of Khana local government area of the state despite its peaceful nature.

The NYCN chairman stated this while addressing indigenes of the community during an event to mark the laying of foundation for an ultra modern market in the area.

He tasked  government at all levels not to concentrate only on communities going through travails of insecurity.

Bani called on the Rivers State government to embark on projects that are people oriented.

“Government around both local, state and federal should not only be interested in communities that are going through the travails of insecurity but they should change their approach and methodology”

 “As a Governor, go to that community that you know that sponsors an enduring peace and do a project there” he said.

The chairman noted that peace should be a source of attracting projects to the people not violent

“You don’t need to wait for people to be violent to go and settle them,” he stated.

Bani encouraged the people of Sii to be steadfast and to remain calm.

He noted that the laying of the foundation for the ultra modern market  marks the beginning of a journey of greatness in the community and encouraged  Indigenes of the community to be good ambassadors of the community and Ogoni  anywhere they go.

Also speaking at the event, All Progressives Congress, APC, Rivers South-East Senatorial District candidate for 2023 election and the immediate past Nigerian ambassador to the Netherlands,  Amb. Orji Ngofa described the NYCN chairman as a person with strong passion for the  development of Sii community.

Ngofa  admitted that the community has suffered alot and promised to stand by the NYCN chairman to see to the completion of the project.

“ I will stand by him, we will do everything that is within our power to ensure that this community sees government presence,” he said.
