Rivers govt moves to boost tourism through heritage preservation bill

The Rivers State Heritage Preservation Agency Bill, 2022 has scaled through Second Reading on the floor of the State House of Assembly .

 Sponsor of the bill and Leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly-  Amaewhule Martin Chike who led debate during plenary said that the bill if passed into law would help boost tourism in the state and preserve its heritage  for future generations.

Most members who contributed, gave their support for the bill.

The bill seeks to provide for the establishment of the Rivers State Heritage Preservation Agency for the Identification, location and preservation of Heritage of cultural, historical or social value in Rivers State

Speaker of the Assembly, Ikuinyi- Owaji Ibani after listening to debates committed the bill to the House Committee on Culture.

Similarly, Rivers State Pension Reform Law (Amendment) Bill, 2022 was also presented by the Leader on behalf of the Governor, Nyesom Wike .

The bill seeks to amend the Rivers State Pension Reform Law, 2019.
