We are not conducting free surgeries, says UPTH

By: Felix Ikpotor

Management of the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital, UPTH, has denied an online publication  that it is conducting free surgical outreach.

Port Harcourt Spectator reports that a group known as Concerned Doctors of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital had sent out invitation to members of the public that it was carrying out free surgeries in areas such as Caesarean Sections, Goitar, Hynea, Growth, Appendicitis amongst others, advising them to take advantage of it.

But UPTH in a statement by its Acting Public Relations Officer, Elabha Meni said the hospital is not conducting any outreach presently, stressing that the group is unknown them.

She said, ‘We do not know the group claiming to be from UPTH. The hospital does not have in her record any consultant, resident doctor, house officer or staff with the name Dr. Lizzy Okah with contact line +234 07068343374 as published for their inquiries”.

The hospital warned members of the public to be wary of such  publications, advising that whoever seeks their services does that at their own risk.
