Disbanded OSPAC commander kills youth leader in Rivers

The family of Okechukwu Eleonu, a former Chairman of Mgbuola community, Ndele, Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State allegedly killed by  a former commander of the disbanded OSPAC ( local vigilance group) in the community last Saturday is now seekiing for justice.

Younger brother to the deceased,Victor Eleonu, in an interview said;

‘Eyewitness told me that he reported illegal oil bunkering business going on in the community to the Nigeria Police and because of that the disbanded OSPAC commander being the leader of the illegal oil bunkering business caught him yesterday and shot him .

“The matter has been reported to Rumuji Police station but no arrest has been made”.

Also, wife of the deceased, Mary Eleonu, who is a mother of three called on the police to arrest the culprit.

“The commander of defunct OSPAC in the community shot my husband dead yesterday ( last Saturday).Before I went to where they shot him, he was already dead .He is in the mortuary now. I have three children, two boys and one girl. I want government to arrest him. He said nobody can arrest him. He said nobody can do him anything .I ‘m now a widow my daugter want to write WAEC I do not have money .It’s my husband that has been catering for me. He said my husband has removed him from OSPAC and want to close where he ( former OSPAC commander) is doing bunkering  that is why he shot him,” she lamented.

Spokesperson of the Rivers State Police command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko who confirmed the incident said investigation is still ongoing into the matter.
