Rivers Guber: Itubo remains our candidate, says Labour Party chairmen

Chairmen of the Labour Party in the four Ogoni local councils of Khana, Eleme, Tai and Gokana in Rivers State have said it’s not true that the party in the area has endorsed a candidate from another party for the governorship position in the forthcoming general elections.

They also said the party in the area is loyal to Comrade Beatrice Itubo and is ready to work for her victory in the elections.

This position was contained in a communiqué issued by the party chairmen after their meeting in Port Harcourt.

The communique was signed by the four chairmen namely; Gonee Akpobari Sakpughi (Khana), Samuel Zorkuru ( Gokana), Jasper Kuenee (Tai) and Dick Eppie (Eleme).

While declaring their total support and loyalty to the leadership of Comrade Beatrice Itubo as gubernatorial candidate, they called on the National and State Executive Council of the party to investigate and take disciplinary action against anybody involved in the purported endorsement of another gubernatorial candidate for the party.

The communiqué reads in part:

“That the Labour Party in the four local government areas of Ogoni comprising Eleme, Khana, Gokana and Tai has not adopted any other gubernatorial candidate for Labour Party except Comrade Chief Beatrice Itubo.

“That any individual disguising under any group or NGO to adopt any gubernatorial candidate for Labour Party in Ogoni is doing so at his/her own peril.

“That we the executive members of the Labour Party in Ogoni dissociate ourselves from any purported endorsement of any gubernatorial candidate other than the candidacy of Comrade Beatrice Itubo”.
