Fall out of forensic audit: NDDC terminates 1301 contracts

…Contractors to refund mobilisation monies

Following the release of the forensic audit report on the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, and  Presidential directives, the commission has now terminated a total of 1301 contracts in all states under it.

The contracts terminated by the commission are those awarded between 2000 and December 31, 2019 inwhich contractors failed to mobilise to site.

The decision which was contained in a statement by  Dr. Abioye Abosede, Director, Corporate Affairs of NDDC  also directed the affected contractors to refund the monies earlier collected for the contracts.

The statement however, said the contracts are subject to re-award.

The statement reads: “This is to bring to the Notice of all Contractors engaged by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), as well as stakeholders and the General Public, that in furtherance of the Presidential Directive that all projects awarded by the Commission before December 31, 2019, for which the beneficiary contractors are yet to mobilize to site be cancelled, the underlisted contracts are hereby cancelled/terminated forthwith. In line with the directive, “This cancellation is subject to any future re-award inaccordance with the Public Procurement Act and extant award processes for

projects.”

“Accordingly, all affected contractors are advised to contact the Directorate of Project Monitoring & Supervision and/or the relevant state offices of the Commission for further inquiries regarding this notice.

“Consequently, all affected contractors are advised to note that all monies earlier received by way of mobilization for any of the projects are to be promptly refunded to the Commission’s Account with the Central Bank of Nigeria”.
