Rivers 2023: Abe raises alarm over repeated attack on his campaign train

By: Felix Ikpotor

Governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, in Rivers State, Senator Magnus Ngei Abe has again, raised the alarm over the continues attack on his campaign train in the state.

Abe spoke after suspected hoodlums disrupted his campaign at the Okrika Waterfront in the old Port Harcourt Township on Wednesday.

He said he has not committed any offence by seeking for support to be governor in 2023 and that nobody can stop his ambition.

“Our campaign is about progress and how to put money in your pockets. Today, every effort we have made to try to come here and talk to you have been thwarted. People have done everything possible to stop me from spreading my own message to people of Rivers State, but the truth cannot be silenced.

“I want to assure Rivers people that I will campaign in this state, I will contest the elections and I will win. There is nothing anybody can do to stop people from hearing the truth,” he said.

The SDP guber candidate further stated that all parties must be allowed to go about their campaigns freely.

“We must not be intimidated to live in fear; you must express yourself and speak your mind. Those who want to control what we say or what we hear cannot create a better society for us, Rivers people must make up their minds. I will campaign, I will contest, it is your votes that will decide the future of our state,” he stated.

Port Harcourt Spectator reports that suspected thugs invaded the place and chased people away while Abe was still speaking.

It could be recalled that this is the second attack on the SDP governorship candidate in less than three days.

Abe was earlier on Monday attacked at Oyigbo by suspected thugs allegedly sent by the state PDP chairman, Ambassador Desmond Akawor, even though he has denied having a hand in the attack.
