Ogonis have suffered so much under Wike- Youth leader

A youth leader in Ogoniland, Rivers State, Comrade Imeabe Savour Oscar has said that the area has not been fairly treated by the administration of Chief Nyesom Wike.

He said the people of the area have suffered so much under the current administration as the government has not deemed it fit to site any world class project in the area.

Oscar who is the  President of Ogoni Youth Development Initiative stated this while reacting to the commissioning of a renovated secondary school in Gokana local council by Governor Nyesom Wike.

He particularly querried the fanfare which followed the commissioning of the school.

Osacr in a statement said,  Wike used the commissioning as another avenue to make political statements, stressing that it would have been more honourable if the governor had silenced the temptation of using the background of a renovated secondary school for his political speeches.

“Renovation of a school to enhance teaching and learning is a welcomed development, but our worry is on why the contingent of governor of Benue State, Rivers Governor-elect and other dignitaries to the community. Was the school renovation with the best Laboratory equipment in the world? Was it renovated with a State of the Art Library? Was it renovated with an attached Health centre ?? Or with a vocational centre?? Was it renovated with enough manpower, I mean teachers brought in? So what then worth the celebration? He asked.

The statement further reads in part, “Ogoni people have suffered a great deal in this present administration. The administration of Chief Nyesom Wike has not deemed it necessary to site any world class project that would attract attention to the people. Are we not fit enough to host big institutions. Is Obio/Akpor Local Government Area too receptive to development than all the four local government areas of Ogoni? The governor has deliberately sited the approved Law School at Rumueme, Cancer and Cardiovascular Centre at Rumuepirikom, his home town, where there is not even enough space. This is amidst other outstanding institutions and projects. What has then happened to our dear Ogoni, the food basket of the state. Why are we relegated to receiving only renovated schools?.

“ We also need good projects and institutions. We need our Sakpeenwa-Bori-Kono road to be completed with drainages. The governor has not expressed true love for the people of Ogoni as he has always claimed. We need good projects and institutions sited in Ogoni”.
