Education support remains our top priority, says DELGA boss

Chairman of Degema Local Government Area, Michael John Williams, has assured that his administration would continue to pay priority attention, as well as give all necessary support to the educational sector, in order to improve society.

The council chairman gave the assurance, when he played host to the leadership of the Postgraduate Students’ Association, Rivers State University, at the Council Secretariat in Degema.

He stated that quality education is the bedrock of society, and it is expedient for leaders at all levels to give priority attention to it, in order to maximize its prospects.

“I love education and so I encourage people who are eager and passionate about improving themselves and society through education.

“The support and huge investment our administration has made in the education sector, is borne out of our sincere commitment in that regard. We shall continue to support you at all times,” he assured.

Earlier, President of the association, Comrade David Nelson-Ordu, had while congratulating the chairman on his recent conferment with the Distinguished Service Star of Rivers State (DSSRS) award by the State Government, commended him for his huge support to the students’ community in the LGA.

He particularly commended him for the grant of 50,000 each, given to over 300 varsity students of the LGA extraction, as well as the postgraduate level sponsorship of several PG students, amongst others.

Comrade Ordu lauded the Council Chairman for his infrastructural revolution across communities of the LGA, maintaining peaceful coexistence amongst residents, as well as securing the LGA, adding that; “Mr. Chairman your administration has changed the story of Degema for good.”
