OUF honours Ogoni-born United States Army officer

The Ogoni United Family, OUF has bestowed an award of excellence on  Sergeant Baridole McSam Nne, a United States based Army officer.

The group said the award is in recognition of his humanitarian services in Ogoniland and other parts of Africa.

Leader of the group, Comrade Dominic Dumekpighi while presenting the award to the recipient said it was aimed at encouraging him to do more for humanity.

“This award is in recognition of his magnanimity, in recognition of his effort in humanitarian services and stewardship. Over the years, McSam has contributed immensely to youths development in Ogoniland. Presently, he has about 9 Ogoni youths on his scholarship; in other parts of Africa where his NGO also operates, he has been giving succour to the needy and offering humanitarian services and as such we needed to acknowledge and appreciate him,” he said.

Dumekpighi said as an Ogoniman, the group is happy with what he is doing.

“It’s not easy to be a contributor to youths’ development in Ogoniland and other parts of the world. He’s an Ogoniman representing us properly despite being a soldier. His NGO is working in Uganda and Kenya. The role he’s playing in human capacity building is what we really cherished and deemed necessary to acknowledge him and to encourage him to do more,” he stated.

The group used the medium to appeal for support from the philanthropist and also charged him to continue to do more for the Ogoni Nation and humanity.

In his response, the awardee thanked the group for finding him worthy of the honour and promised to partner the group in reaching out to more Ogonis.
