Rivers Police begin manhunt for killers of Amiesimaka Stadium CSO

…Arrests solar street lights vandals

The Rivers State Police Command says it has started investigation into the killing of the chief security officer of the Adokiye Amiesiemaka Stadium, Richard Timothy Jaminiwa, and his first son Tola Jaminiwa.

Spokesperson of the command Grace Iringe-Koko in a statement said the State Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adepoju has ordered that the perpetrators be arrested and brought to book.

Late Richard Timothy Jaminiwa and his son were killed last Thursday by unknown gunmen at their residence on Omuelu Farm Road in Igwuruta Ali, Ikwerre Local Government Area of the state.

She said: “The Rivers State Police Command is aware of a tragic incident which occurred on 31st, January, 2025, at about 2340hrs in Rivers State, where one Timothy, ‘m’ a 59-year-old Chief Security Officer (CSO) of Adokiye Amieseimeka International Stadium, Omagwa, Port Harcourt and his first son were brutally murdered by unknown gunmen.

“The Igwuruta Division of the Rivers State Police Command received a report from Omolara, Timothy’s daughter, stating that four unknown gunmen ambushed her father and son, shooting them severely on the head, resulting in their death.

“The police swiftly responded to the scene, recovering three expended AK-47 ammunition. The victims were rushed to the hospital, but unfortunately, they succumbed to their injuries and were confirmed dead by the Doctor on duty.”

Iringe-Koko added: “The Commissioner of Police, Rivers State, has directed the deployment of all necessary intelligence to apprehend the fleeing suspects and bring them to justice.”

Meanwhile, the Rivers State Police Command has arrested two suspects for alleged involvement in solar street lights vandalism around the Trans-Amadi axis of the state the capital.

The police said the suspects, were arrested on 26th January , 2025 following credible intelligence.

The police said suspects, Shaibu Yusuf ‘m’ aged 30yrs, an indigene of Bolari Town in Gombe LGA of Gombe State and Ibrahim Abubakar ‘m’ aged 28yrs, an indigene of Katsina LGA of Katsina State, but all resident at Okuru scrap dump, Abuloma Community, Port- Harcourt, were caught vandalizing and attempting to steal NDDC Street Solar Lights along Danjuma Drive, off Trans-Amadi road in Port- Harcourt.

Grace Iringe-Koko, the Command’s spokesperson in a statement said both suspects have made confessional statements and have been charged to court.

She said items recovered from the suspects includes: Solar Light Poles, Solar Light Panels, Solar Light Panel Bolts, Solar Light Panel Nuts, and a knife.
