The lawmaker representing Rivers West Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Dr. Ipalibo Harry-Banigo has lauded the Federal Government for budgeting the sum of N4.8 billion for the treatment of Human Immuno Deficiency Virus (HIV) in the 2025 budget.
Harry-Banigo who is the Chairman, Senate Committee on Health, conveyed the commendation in a statement on her verified social media page.
She said the funding would supplement partner’s contributions and enhance efforts in combating the the virus and provide quality healthcare for all citizens
“I applaud President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the N4.8 billion allocation towards HIV treatment in Nigeria. This bold step is a further affirmation of the Renewed Hope Agenda and the government’s unwavering commitment to strengthening healthcare systems, improving access to life-saving treatment, and prioritizing the well-being of all Nigerians. It reinforces the importance of domestic financing and sustainability in our fight against HIV/AIDS, ensuring that those affected receive the necessary support and care.
“As we work towards ending HIV/AIDS, this funding will supplement partners’ contributions and ensure quality treatment, prevention, and care for those in need,” she stated.
The lawmaker called for continued awareness, ensuring effective utilization of the resources, and working together to eradicate HIV/AIDS in the communities.
