Chairman of the Great Green Wall Commission, Senator Magnus Abe has mourned the demise of King Godwin Gininwa, describing him as someone who touched so many lives while alive.
Abe who spoke at a night of tribute held in honour of the departed Tai monarch, noted that King Gininwa had a special love for him like his own biological son.
“King Gininwa touched our lives in so many ways. For me as a person, it was not hidden that he had a special love for me; he didn’t try to hide it, he didn’t try to disguise it. And sometimes people were not too pleased about it because when a father with so many children singles out one for special favour, its highly not recommended. And even I as a father, would not recommend it, but I enjoyed I,” Abe said.
Also speaking, the Gbenemene Tai Kingdom, King Samuel Nnee, said the late king was a man full of wisdom and intelligence. He said Late King Gininwa lived a simple life but carried himself with charisma.
“As a ruler, he possesses both words of wisdom and intelligence, reliability and willingness to live a simple life.“With your charisma, flamboyance, erudition, nobility, purposefulness and commitment to truth, hardwork and selfless services to life; you have filled the pride of Tai and Ogoni extraordinarily high across the world, bringing fame and glory not only to Ogoni ethnic Nationality but also Rivers State,” Nnee stated.
Earlier, son of the late monarch, Dr Prince Gininwa, said his father was a father to all that’s why the entire people are gathered to celebrate his passing.
“My father was a father to all of us here, and that is the reason why we have come to celebrate him today. I’m so happy for all the testimonies that people have given in respect of my father. My father passed on some two years ago. If he had been a bad man, I don’t think we would be here today to celebrate him. I thank you all for the support you’ve given to us. And, as I used to say, my father was an icon of peace. My father loved peace; my father ensured there was peace in Ogoni-Land during his reign” Prince Gininwa, stated.
