Community Development Committee (CDC) Chairmen across Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State have unanimously passed a vote of confidence on the chairman of the LGA, Chief Thomas Bariere, citing his commitment to security, peace, youth empowerment, and infrastructural development across the area.
The resolution was reached during a meeting of the Khana CDC leadership held on Tuesday 12th May, 2026, in Bori under the coordination of Ledogo Precious Nnaa, Coordinator of all CDC Chairmen in Khana.
Speaking during the meeting, the CDC Chairman of Bua-Zaakpon, Diakere Israel, after extensive deliberations on issues affecting the local government said, members resolved to publicly appreciate and endorse the leadership style of the council chairman.
According to him, Dr. Thomas Bariere has shown strong commitment towards tackling insecurity in Khana through collaboration with security agencies and proactive leadership.
“After our brainstorming session, we decided to pass a vote of confidence on the Executive Chairman of Khana LGA for his efforts, particularly in the area of security. We are also appealing to him not to listen to distractions because he has been trying his best and is still doing so up till this moment,” he stated.
He further noted that the chairman has continued to empower youths through skill acquisition initiatives, through the One Man, One Skill programme, which he said has positively impacted many young people across the area.
“I know about 10 to 20 youths close to me who are benefiting from the programme. He is trying his best to ensure that Khana remains peaceful, just as he did during his first tenure,” he added.
Also speaking during the meeting, the CDC Chairman of Wiiyaakara community, Dr. Richard Akpodee stated that after reviewing issues that were affecting the local government, the committee concluded that the chairman has demonstrated courage, capacity, and commitment in addressing security challenges confronting the area.
“We saw that the Local Government Chairman, Dr. Thomas Bariere, is doing well. He has shown capability and the radical disposition needed to confront security challenges. As a house, we unanimously pass a vote of confidence on him,” he declared.
In his remarks, the Coordinator of all CDC Chairmen in Khana, Precious Ledogo Nnaa, aligned himself with the position of the committee and commended the chairman for what he described as transformational leadership.
“I join my voice with that of my colleagues today to pass a vote of confidence on the Chairman of Khana Local Government. This is a Chairman that was sent by God, the Joshua of our time, who has transformed our LGA. As leaders of our various communities, there is a need for us to openly appreciate his efforts,” he said.
Similarly, Elder Prince Neekpoa Bie, Central CDC Chairman of Taabaa, praised the chairman for sustaining peace and supervising developmental projects in various communities. According to him, the peaceful atmosphere currently being enjoyed in Khana has created room for visible development across communities.
“The Local Government Chairman has been a pillar of peace. As the Chief Security Officer of Khana Local Government, he has made us sleep well because of his leadership. Due to the peace we now enjoy, development has started reaching different parts of Khana,” he stated.
He specifically commended the chairman for personally supervising ongoing projects in Taabaa, especially at the General Hospital, where he said Dr. Bariere visited to encourage workers and monitor progress.
The CDC Chairmen collectively reaffirmed their support for the administration of Dr. Thomas Bariere, pledged continued cooperation with the council in sustaining peace, security, and development in Khana Local Government Area.
