One of the candidates in last Friday’s governorship primary election of the Africa Democratic Congress (ADC) in Rivers State, Dr. Leloonu Nwibubasar has rejected the outcome of the polls saying it fell short of fair standards.
ADC had last Saturday, announced a former Secretary to Rivers State Government, Dr Gabriel Pidomsom as winner of the governorship primary election of the party. The announcement however, followed earlier announcement Friday evening of Doctor Farah Dagogo, a former member of the House of Representatives as winner of the election by a group of party members.
However, Nwibubasar in a statement he personally signed said after reviewing the results of the exercise from across the state, it has decided to follow all internal mechanism within the party to address all perceived irregularities and flaws associated with the process.
”After careful review of the process and reports from across the state, we are constrained to state that the conduct of the election fell far short of the minimum standards required for any exercise to be adjudged free, fair, transparent, and credible. This fundamentally calls the outcome into question.
”However, our silence should not be mistaken for compromise, weakness, or defeat. As loyal and responsible members of the African Democratic Congress, we have resolved to pursue all internal party mechanisms available to address the obvious irregularities and flaws associated with the conduct of the primary election,” he said.
Nwibubasar, a former commissioner for Employment Generation in Rivers State, urged his teaming supporters, stakeholders, and well-wishers to remain calm, steadfast, and united in faith with the ADC as he seeks an amicable and just resolution of all issues arising from the exercise.
He further restarted his commitment to the democratic process, justice, and the collective aspiration for a better Rivers State.
