Rivers: Food vendor stabs tailor to death over N500 in Bonny Island

A 24-year-old food vendor simply identified as Amaka on Tuesday, is now cooling off in police custody for allegedly  stabbing a 27-year-old man to death in Bonny Island, Rivers State over payment for food.

The young woman whose mother has a restaurant at the Shell Gate area of the island, we learnt, stabbed to death, a young man simply identified as Victor who has a tailoring shop close to the restaurant for not completing the payment of the food he bought from her mother’s restaurant.

Eye witnesses said that the price of the food was N500 but the deceased paid N300, and told her he’ll come back and give her the N200 balance later.

The lady allegedly refused and it resulted into a fight leading to the woman grabbing a knife from the stack which she used to stab him on the abdomen.

The victim bled to death before being taken to the hospital.

The eyewitnesses said the police arrived at the scene and arrested the young woman while the body of the slain man was deposited in the mortuary.

Although the State Police Command is yet to comment on the matter but, a police officer in the Bonny Division who didn’t want to be named confirmed the incident, adding that the lady had been detained pending investigation into the matter.
