Rivers APC Crisis: Onyesoh may join PDP soon

By: Felix Ikpotor

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Rivers State, Chief Allwell Onyesoh is on the verge of publicly declaring his membership of the  Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Onyesoh, who was a commissioner under the Peter Odili led administration in the state also served as Chairman of the Rivers State Senior Secondary Schools Board (RSSSSB) under the Chibuike Rotimi Chibuike administration.

He was a member of Senator Magnus Abe’s camp of the Rivers APC and a senatorial aspirant for Rivers East Senatorial District in the 2019 general election.

In the 2015 general elections, he was the Deputy Director General of the APC Campaign team.

However, due to internal wrangling within the party and legal constraints, it could not field candidates in the 2019 elections.

In a meeting at his Port Harcourt residence, on Monday, Onyesoh thanked stakeholders for their unalloyed loyalty over the years.

He further expressed his gratitude to the Governor of Rivers State, Ezenwo Nyesom Wike for his magnanimity to Etche nation in the area of appointments and infrastructural developments.

Onyesoh told his supporters  that he has concluded plans to join the PDP any moment before the party’s congresses, adding that PDP is the only party that has the field where politicians can play politics and as a politician, he wants to go to that field (PDP).

The Octopus as he is fondly called however, urged his supporters to go back to their various wards and galvanize support for the defection plans which will be unveiled in the coming days.

Speaking on the occasion, one of his foot soldiers,  Hon. City Nwanyawu lauded the decision of Chief Onyesoh and promised to work for the progress of his political empire.

Also, a former House of Assembly aspirant in the 2019 elections, Hon. Emma Nwaobilor stated that the decision to move to PDP is a welcome development, saying he believes it will be in the best interest of the Etche nation.

This is coming barely a few days after the Chief Bisi Akande Reconciliatory Committee of the APC is due to begin work with Rivers State as one of the key states to be visited
