The index case of coronavirus in Rivers State has refuted insinuations that she travelled into the state with a serving senator from abroad.
The patient whose name was not revealed also said she is not a prostitute.
Speaking on a radio interview monitored in Port Harcourt said: ‘I don’t know any Nigerian Senator. This is the first time I’m travelling out of the country for several modelling competitions, I’m not a prostitute.’
“I don’t know why people tell lies about me on various media platforms, I didn’t travel with any Senator out of this country and I will not be happy been labeled as a prostitute because I’m not.”
“The virus is real and all I can advice is for people to not be over-religious about it. Everyone should maintain personal hygiene and hopefully the spread will be reduce if we maintain Social distance and other precautionary measures.”
“All my family members and everyone whom I met on my return have been quarantined and tested by the end of the two weeks their results will be out and once is out we will inform the public. We don’t have anything to hide and I advice people to stop spreading rumours.”
PHSpectator reports that news making the rounds especially on the social media accused Senator representing Rivers South East in the National Assembly, Dr. Barry Mpigi of bringing the index case into the state as his concubine. However, the lawmaker through his media aide, Joe Gwezia has denied the allegation and even went ahead to make donations to the Rivers State government to help combat the virus.
