Activists seek 50bn compensation for victims of 2015 electoral violence

Following the planned release of four hundred and fifty million naira by Rivers State government as compensation for victims the 2019 presidential election violence in Akuku-Toru local government area of the state, people of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni local government area of  the state are now  appealing to the  government to compensate victims of 2015 electoral violence in the area.

A peace ambassador, Bright Abali who made the appeal told journalists that so many families in the area lost their loved ones during the 2015 elections & the 2016 re-run elections.

Abali while commending Governor Nyesom Wike for compensating the 2019 Presidential Election Violence victims of AKULGA, appealed that the gesture be extended to ONELGA victims and other local government areas in the state.

According to him, “The next of kins of the victims have waited patiently for government to bring succour to them since his first tenure in 2015.

“They will be glad to receive their compensation from the Rivers State Government along with their counterparts from AKULGA,” he said.

Recalled that the Governor on Monday announced the release of the sum of four hundred and fifty million naira as compensation for the victims.
