Members of the Ondo State House of Assembly have served an impeachment notice on Deputy Governor of the state, Agboola Ajayi.

The lawmakers accused the Deputy Governor of gross misconduct.

He also indicated interest in running in the forthcoming governorship election.

The Nation reports that 14 lawmakers supported the impeachment of Ajayi.

There were, however, heavy security presence at the Ondo State House of Assembly as the lawmakers were holding plenary.

It was reported earlier that stern looking security operatives on Tuesday morning took over the complex of the Ondo State House of Assembly.

With about 10 vans belonging to the men of the Nigeria Police and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, the security operatives mounted strategic locations within and outside the Assembly.

Journalists who were at the complex to monitor the day’s proceedings were turned back by the security personnel.
