Reports say  the chairman of  Gokana Local Government Area in Rivers State, Hon. Vidag Kobani and his counterpart in Khana, Elder Lahteh Loolo were repprtedly arrested between Thursday evening and Friday morning on allegations linking them to late notorious gang leader, Honest Digbara also known as Bobosky.

Bobosky, a notorious cultist in the Ogoni axis of the state was assassinated by men of the Rivers State Police Command on Saturday after a raid.

The reports said Kobani was being held at the Mile1 Police Station.

According to the report, the Gokana Council Chairman was taken from his residence under handcuffs around 4.00am Friday  morning and taken into police custody.

Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Nnamdi Omoni also confirmed the arrest.

He said the police were aware of the allegations levelled against the council chairman, saying crack detectives are investigating.

The Rivers State Government had earlier on Thursday redeemed the N30 million bounty it placed on the head of Boboski for information which would lead to his arrest.

The State Police Commissioner, Joseph Mukan had also on Wednesday said the command has identified prominent Rivers citizens allegedly linked with the proliferation of cultism in the state and that they will be brought to book.

However, when Port Harcourt Spectator contacted the Chief Press Secretary to Kobani to speak on the incidents, he declined comment that he has not been permitted to do so.

Meanwhile, Lahteh Loloo has described the report of his arrest preposterous and a deliberate ploy to hoodwink the public and as such it should be discarded!

Lahteh in a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Electronic Media, Dennis Gbaranor said the online publication which carried the report was allegedly  sponsored.

the  reads: “I was told about certain online publication alleging that I was arrested & detained. Those are all lies and a failed concoction from enemies of progress. I’m in my house with my family. I haven’t been called up by the police for any of such, I have never in my life been neither declared wanted by the police force nor arrested for whatsoever reason. Under my watch as Khana Council Chairman, I have been at the forefront of the war against criminality and various crimes in Khana, and I have never been known to be associated with any harmful personality or group; It is not even in my nature.”

The Executive Chairman who is also a lawyer,  further demanded a  48hours rebuttal and apology from the publishing firm to his person and the people of Khana LGA whom he serves, stressing that failure to which he would mandate his lawyers to press for charges against the company.

The Khana Council boss re-emphasised his unreserved commitment to the fight against insecurity and criminality inspite of the antics of political detractors and further charged the public to discard the fake news and continue to  support and corporate with the State and Local Government, to improve the business of Governance.
