Rivers Neighbourhood Watch ends seminar with charge to maintain professionalism

 Rivers State Neighborhood Safety Corps Agency, RIVNESCA , have been charged to maintain utmost professionalism in the discharge of their duties in the state.

The charge was given as corps rounded up a 5-day seminar in Port Harcourt.

Speaking during the occasion which took place at the Alfred Diete-Spiff Civic Centre Complex, the representative of the Commandant, NSCDC, Rivers State Command, Assistant Commandant Oguntuase, advised the operatives to maintain professionalism, expected operational standards, devoid of insensitivity to human rights, abuse of office, corrupt acts, and upholding the tenets of inter-agency collaboration, especially in the area of intelligence gathering and sharing with sister security agencies.

 On his part,  the State Commissioner of Police, Friday Eboka who was represented by ACP Anthony Odita, AC-Administration commended  the Executive Governor of the State, Barr Nyesom Ezenwo Wike for his proactiveness in establishing the agency, especially at a period of the nation’s history when security challenge is the biggest threat to societal development and the need for locally processed security seem to be the closest solution to tackling the challenge.

He urged operatives to live up to the expected standard of the agency and that of their Director General, Dr Mike Uche Chukwuma, whom he described as an epitome of discipline and a tireless worker who always stood his ground against injustice and corruption during his days as a police officer.

 On his part, the Director General of the Agency, Dr Mike Uche Chukwuma  thanked Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike  for finding him worthy to serve his state in that capacity.

His joy, he said, is that he is called to operate in a very familiar terrain, promising that he would, with the help and support of all succeed in sanitizing the state of criminal elements.

He appealed for the support of community leaders, women organisations, professional bodies, chiefs, religious leaders across board and members of the public in carrying out this task by volunteering information that can lead to arrest of troublemakers.

He also thanked the Commissioner of Police, Friday Eboka and other sister agencies for the support and corporation.

 Furthermore, the DG admonished the operatives to remain patriotic, disciplined,  self contented, shun corruption, high handedness to members of the public, and ensure they watch over the borders  of the State from all fronts and report any suspicious movement  to the Command headquarters and any nearest officially established security post or agency within their immediate reach.
