The Rivers State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Dr Dennis Lesor Reuben, has stated that thr corps is ready to combat pipeline vandalism and to protect all critical national assets in the state.
He stated this when he received in audience, His Majesty, Eze Felix Enene Otuwarikpo, the Eze Igbu Upata III, who paid him a courtesy visit, at the Command’s headquarters in Port Harcourt.
The Upata Monarch, accompanied by his Council of Chiefs, had earlier seized the opportunity to call for closer collaboration from Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and other sister security agencies, in the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure across the state, noting the negative impact of illegal bunkering activities to the nation’s economy, the environment and livelihood of the people.
Eze Otuwarikpo, also assured the State Commandant, of providing credible intelligence to mitigate any threat to national infrastructure, lives and property, across the state, particularly in his kingdom.
The monarch also congratulated the State Commandant, on his appointment as Rivers State Commandant while commending officers and men of the command for exemplary conduct and professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
In his response, Cmdt Dennis Lesor Reuben, thanked the monarch and his Council of Chiefs for identifying with the Corps in its primary responsibility of protecting critical national assets and infrastructure.
The State Commandant further assured the monarch, of the combat-readiness of the command, to deal decisively with any emerging security threat, aimed at sabotaging critical national assets and public infrastructure across Rivers State.
Cmdt Reuben also used the opportunity to reiterate his earlier warning to criminal elements to steer clear of Rivers State or be prepared to face the full wrath of the law.
