Anambra governor declares 3 days mourning for late COAS

Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano has declared a three-day mourning period for the Chief of the Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru, other officers who lost their lives in the fatal plane crash on Friday in Kaduna.

In a press statement, Gov. Willie directed that the state flag flies at half-mast in all public facilities in the State from Monday, till Wednesday, May 27 in honour of the lost soldiers.

He revealed that this is in appreciation of the role of the Nigerian Armed Forces in bringing about peace, stability and order in the country as a whole and in Anambra State.

The governor in his statement praised all security agencies who have played a major role in keeping the state safe through their constant patrol in streets, towns and villages despite security breaches.

He emphasized that as a result of this, the state has witnessed growth worth four to five billion dollars in terms of investments, creating products, services and growth in the workforce.

He also eulogized the late Emeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, who was once in the Nigerian Army, stating that the people and Government of the state have always been in a proud relationship with the Nigerian Armed Forces.

He added that their death is a major loss while praying for the repose of their souls.
