Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has said his administration has zero debt burden.
Wike who spoke during the Commissioning of the official residence of the Speaker of Rivers State House of Assembly, Ikuinyi-Owaji Ibani called on anyone with evidence to the contrary to make it public as his administration is not owing any bank.
“If there is any debt to Rivers State’s account it would be loans taken decades ago during the military era,” he said.
He said although each arm of government works independently the arms of Government must coorporate for the betterment of the state.
He said since the legislature does not ordinarily have the competence to manage construction, the State’s Ministry of Housing supported in supervising the construction.
In his address, former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Austin Opara called on the National Assembly to listen to the cry of Nigerians and amend the electoral act with a provision for electronic transmission of results.
Furthermore, the electronic transmission of results has enormous benefits as it would remove the crises encountered at the collation centers.
“It would stop intervention by security agencies, stop thuggery, stop the loss of lives during collation and make the people have confidence in the electoral process,” he said.
