16 corps members test positive for COVID-19 in Bauchi

Atleast sixteen prospective National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members have tested positive for COVID-19 out of the 1,750 deployed to Bauchi State.

The corps members arrived the state July 23 for their three-week orientation exercise at the Wailo camp in the Ganjuwa Local Government Area of the state.

Chairman of the State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Rilwan Mohammed who confirmed the development on Saturday, said they tested positive following a COVID-19 test conducted by the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), which is a prerequisite condition for admission into any of the 37 NYSC camps nationwide.

Mohammed, however, said they were not admitted into the camps, but duly referred to the NCDC for treatment and management.

“I am yet to ascertain if they have been discharged or not but they have been isolated, about 16 of them,” he said.
