Rivers: Workers block Emohua council secretariat over unpaid salaries

Some angry workers of Emohua local government area in Rivers State Monday  morning, reportedly  chased workers out of their offices and locked  the gate of the council over alleged unpaid salaries running into months.

It was also reported that the council chairman, Dr Chidi Lloyd was not allowed access into the council.

An eyewitness accounts say the chairman who arrived at the council early Monday  morning tried to gain severally to approach the angry workers but they refused, insisting that their monies should be paid first.

After unsuccessful attempts to gain access into his office, he drove off.

The gate was still shut at the time of this report.

PHSpectator recalls that the council boss had earlier stated that the salaries of workers were delayed because of an ongoing workers’ edit in the council.

Efforts to speak with the council authorities on the development yielded no fruit at press time.
