AAC chairmen, members in Rivers set to join PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Rivers State will soon welcome another set of defectors into its fold as the African Action Congress, AAC I the state has signified interest to joi the party.

The AAC LGA chairmen made their position known on Monday, 6th September, 2021 when they visited the Chairman of PDP Rivers state chapter, Ambassador Desmond Akawor at the party Secretariat in Port Harcourt.

Speaking on behalf of the chairmen, AAC Chairman of Opobo/Nkoro local government, Mr Dandyson Ogolo said their decision was informed by the commendable work Governor Nyesom Wike is doing in the State and the purposeful leadership direction the Ambassador Desmond Akawor-led PDP is giving to the party.

Mr Ogolo who is also the Chairman of all AAC Chairmen in Rivers state noted that they have watched with great admiration the developmental strides of the PDP-led government and had unanimously decided with all their members to return to the party.

“We are here to see how we can be integrated properly into this family. Let us be treated like the prodigal child that ran away and when he came back, there was celebration for him. We are tired to be in AAC and we really need to enjoy the dividends of democracy which the PDP government is providing in Rivers state. We are here to cement the cementable and when we go back home we will aquant our followers with the new direction”.

Responding, Ambassador Desmond Akawor, represented by the party’s Deputy Chairman, Hon Chukwuemeka Aaron described their decision to come back to the PDP family which is their original home as a welcomed development.

Ambassador Akawor who noted that the coming of the various leaders of the AAC in the local government areas to indicate their intention to return to the PDP showed that they are appreciative of the developmental efforts of Governor Nyesom Wike, noting that they would enjoy the same treatment as other members of the party.

“The governor has sounded it loud and clear that whenever you come to PDP, there is no new comer, all of us were members of the PDP, but for one reason or the other you left, and now you are coming back to your party and it is a welcomed development. All of us have equal status “.

He assured the AAC Local Government area chairmen that a date would be fixed for a proper reception along with thousands of others who have equally indicated interest to join the PDP.

The party chairman who maintained that criticisms against Wike are born out of hatred, greed and envy, emphasized that the governor has within the last six years transformed the State beyond the expectation of the people.

“In all the local government areas there is nowhere we cannot say this is what the Governor has done. So when we say we are getting people everyday to PDP, it is not because of the Deputy Chairman or the State Chairman, but because of what Chief Nyesom Wike has done in Rivers state. It speaks volumes for PDP. God used Nyesom Wike to change Rivers state from what it used to be but you can still see some of us in the other party criticising the government out of envy and greed”.

He thanked them for appreciating the good work of Governor Wike and assured that they would not regret their decision to come back to the PDP.
