Hoodlums, tanker drivers clash in Rivers

A tanker driver’s hand was reportedly severed, shops locked as pedestrians scampered for safety when hoodlums otherwise called area boys clashed with tanker drivers earlier today under the Eliozu Flyover in Port Harcourt.

It was gathered the tanker drivers had assembled under the flyover with their trucks to protest alleged daily extortion by the hoodlums when the attacked took place leading to a fight.

A eyewitness said the fight resulted in pandemonium as traders and pedestrians took to their heels for safety.

It was reported that it took the intervention of soldiers who stormed the scene and released some shots in a bid to disperse them before calm was restored.

The tanker driver whose hand was reportedly cut by a hoodlum was seen by our correspondent driven off by some policemen to a hospital for proper medication after he was administered first aid by a patent medicine shop attendant operating at the junction.
