N96bn fraud: Rivers govt sues Amaechi, Cole

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has sworn-in three new Commissioners into the State Executive Council.

They include Prof. Zacchaeus Adangor, SAN, Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Isaac Kamalu Commissioner of Finance, Budget and Economic Planning and Dr. George-Kelly, Dakorinama Alabo, Commissioner for Works and Special Projects.

Speaking at the occasion held at the Executive Council Chamber of Government House, Port Harcourt, Governor Wike directed the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Prof. Zacchaeus Adangor to write a protest letter to the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC on the attempt by personnel of the agency to disobey court judgement by harassing the former State Accountant General and Peoples Democratic Party, PDP candidate, Siminialayi Fubara.

The Governor noted that the recent attempt to arrest Siminialayi Fubara which also have a court judgement against EFCC to enforce his fundamental rights will not be tolerated by the state government, saying the state government will not hesitate to file contempt charges against EFCC which is yet to vacate the 2006 court judgement that barred the agency from investigating the financial transactions of the state.

He also directed the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice to ensure the preferred criminal charges file at the State High Court against former Governor Chibuike Amaechi, Sahara Energy, the State APC Governorship candidate, Tonye Cole among others, following the Supreme Court judgement of the judicial panel of inquiry set up by the state government to investigate the sale of state assets by the Amaechi’s administration is prosecuted diligently.

Governor Wike however noted that he will take time to constitute other members of the State Executive Council, emphasizing that those to be so appointed would be base on capacity to deliver, commitment and loyalty.

He commended the newly sworn-in Commissioners for their commitment, hard work and loyalty which he noted earned them their reappointment.

The Governor assured that all promises made to Rivers people by his administration will be fulfilled before the expiration of his government.
