2023: Abe pledges to invest in education

Former lawmaker representing Rivers South East Senatorial District and frontline governorship aspirant in Rivers State, Senator Magnus Abe has said he will invest massively in education if elected in 2023.

Abe stated this in Port Harcourt while receiving an award  of excellence from the National Union of Rivers State Students, Kenule Beeson Saro-Wiwa Polytechnic chapter.

He said education remains the only catalyst for development.

“Once we sit down there, we must provide for the children of the state, whether your father is rich poor is immaterial. The state must sponsor, provide public education for our children, we have the money to do it and it will be done,” he said.

Abe however, noted that the free education would not include tertiary education.

“The one that will not be free is university education. People must pay for it, we must raise it to a quality where the money you pay will befit the value and those who have brain but don’t have the money, we will give them loan,” he stated.

The gubernatorial hopeful also stated that it’s the responsibility of the government to attend to issues concerning students.

He noted that he invested heavily in education while serving as a senator.

“Nobody can come and talk to you about me. I have invested in education in my senatorial district, have invested in students throughout my career and now is the time to reap”, he said.

President of NURSS KENPOLY, Ibuowariso Diepiriye said they bestowed the award on Abe because of his strides in the development of education in Rivers State.
