I will continue to serve humanity- Ogu

General Overseer of Abundant Life Evangel Mission, ALEM, Apostles Eugene Ogu has stated that he will use every opportunity given to him to better the lives of the less privileged in the society.

Ogu stated this during his 60th birthday celebration held at his church in Port Harcourt.

The man of God who is known for his philanthropic gestures, said he’s indebted to Nigerians and the church especially persons going through one form of persecution or the other because of their faith.

“I’m much more indebted to Nigerians and to the church in particular who are victims of persecution throughout the country and the more I live my life, the more I see how we are unable to scratch the depth of the surface of the masses and it makes me feel very indebted more  to the poor masses of this country”, he stated.

Commenting in the political situation in the country, Ogu said the adoption of a Muslim- Muslim ticket by the All Progressives Congress, APC, won’t be accepted by the Christian faith.

He stressed that the Muslim-Muslim ticket will not serve the interest of many Nigerians.

“Muslim-Muslim ticket or Muslim-Christian ticket is not the problem but changing the goal post when the match has began is very suspicious. We have always moved presidency from the north to the south and that has been the acceptable norm in all parties and at this time, we have witnessed the worst attack on Christian faith that has sent fears and suspicion on the present administration and to give birth to a Muslim-Muslim ticket is a frightening signal whether it’s for good or for bad, Nigeria does not need that kind of signal at this present frightening situation and therefore I will implore everybody no matter the tricks that’s been employed to make it sellable to reject it as it’s unsellable, it’s morally unsellable, legally unsellable and going by the constitution of the various parties, it’s not fit to stand”, he insisted.

In a goodwill message at the occasion, former minister of transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi recalled how supportive the man of God has been to him both as former governor and minister.

“Apostle has been very supportive of us. Apostle Ogu has been with us and praying with us. He’s not a politician but he’ll always join us and pray for us”, he said.

During a sermon at the thanksgiving service, Dr. Uma Ukpai urged Christians to love and celebrate themselves while alive.

The birthday had in attendance members of the Christian community in the state including the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria and other Christian bodies.
