Lulu-Briggs to partner NAWOJ on girl child development

Rivers State Chapter of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, has appealed to the Gubernatorial Candidate of Accord, Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs, to partner with the association to assist the girl child achieve her aims and assume her place in the society.

NAWOJ Chairperson in the state, Mrs Susan Serekara-Nwikhana, who led members of the association on a courtesy visit to the candidate in Port Harcourt,  acknowledged the role of Lulu-Briggs in helping the less privileged in the society across the states.

She said the place of the girl child in the society cannot be over emphasized hence the need to support her to conquer her world.

The NAWOJ chairperson also thank the candidate for picking some of her members to work in his campaign team, saying the action shows that he has love and respect for women.

In his response, Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs thanked the women for the visit and promised to look into their appeal.

Lulu-Briggs noted that women and girls play important roles in the family and society at large and their roles cannot be swept under the carpet.

“I have every reason to do something for the girl child and I have three daughters and a son.

We need a government that will provide opportunities for every Rivers person, irrespective of tribe. Rivers State is the most blessed state but we need to reawaken her to take her to her great destiny.

I am not saying other leaders have not done well, they have tried their best but more needs to be done.

I am prepared to create Rivers State of expanding opportunities for everyone irrespective of tribe”. He stressed.

The guber candidate encouraged women to collect their PVCs and be ready to vote in the right people into leadership positions , promising that  if voted into the Bricks House next year, his monthly salaries will go for women in all the Local Government Areas of the State.
