Ogonis are currently mourning the transfer and subsequent assassination of SP Bako Amgbashim.
SP Amgbashim was the former Divisional Police Officer of Bori, before he was later transferred to Ahoada all in Rivers State where he was subsequently assassinated on September 8th, 2023 by a gang of cultists who are currently on the run.
Before his transfer, Amgbashim, whose operations spanned beyond Ogoniland to Opobo and Andon,i restored peace in most troubled communities in Ogoniland. This was attested to by most Ogonis including their elites such as Senator Magnus Ngei Abe, Hon. Dumnamene Dekor, Dr. Bariere Thomas amongst others who were the first to issue statements condemning his gruesome murder, while recalling his achievements in the area.
The Ogonis’ lamentation follows the resurgence of crimes such as armed robbery and kidnapping in the area especially in areas like Bua Sogho, Bua Boue amongst others.
Meanwhile, people of Bua Sogho community in Khana council are now complaining over the incessant snatching of their motorbikes and other valuables by suspected thieves along the Kaani-Sogho road.
Motorcyclists plying the route alleged that over 20 motorcycles have been stolen from them in the last few weeks.
When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of Zor Sogho Committee Development Committee, one of the communities in Bua Sogho, Asukpughi Friday said the recent development have affected the livelihood of the people.
He also called on the relevant security agencies to come to the aid of the road users.
Also, the people of Uegwere Boue community also in Khana council are now living in fear following the activities of suspected hoodlums and unknown gunmen invading their farmland and kidnapping people.
Already, the community is still searching for a middle-aged man in the community, Mr. Ogah Imeabe who was declared missing on Thursday 14th September, 2023.
It was gathered that Imeabe went to his cassava and pineapple farm on Thursday 14th September and did not return home.
A community source said: “Having waited in vain for his return, his children on Saturday 16th September alerted his community leadership.
“My community immediately conducted a search and saw the cassava stems he was cutting before he was allegedly whisked away by unknown faces.”
On his part, Chairman Community Development Committee of Uegwere Boue Adoobee Nuesi Mirror while speaking to newsmen on the matter called on the abductors of Mr. Imeabe to release him unconditionally.
Youth President of the community, Meelubari Dennis called on the youths in the area to remain law abiding and allow security agencies to handle the matter.
In the meantime, son of the abducted man, Promise Ogah Imeabe has expressed fear over the safety of his father.
He urged the law enforcement agencies to take immediate action to rescue his father.
