Rivers Ethnic Youth Leaders condemn call for sack of NDDC official

By: Felix Ikpotor

The Rivers State Ethnic Youth Leaders Council, RSEYLC, has condemned the call by some persons for the sack of the Special Adviser on Youths to the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Mr Dango Mathew.

Recall that a group, Niger Delta Stakeholders led by one Charles Omusuku had accused Mr Dango Mathew of avoiding public events organised by the NDDC to avoid attacks from aggrieved youths of the region.

But, RSEYLC, said the claim by Omusuku is untrue, deceptive and aimed at tarnishing the reputation of the NDDC official.

Speaking onbehalf of the Rivers ethnic youth leaders at a media briefing in Port Harcourt, Comrade Barinuazor Emmanuel, President of National Youth Council of Ogoni People, NYCOP, urged members of the public to discountenance the call as it’s not coming from true stakeholders of the Niger Delta region.

He said, “Our attention have been drawn to the unwarranted call by some faceless, unscrupulous and disgruntled individuals, for the sack of Mr. Dango Matthew, the Special Adviser (S.A) on Youths, to the Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

“The efforts and determination of this  individuals who have pretentiously come under the guise of the Niger Delta Stakeholders, with the aim to deceive the general public have been spotted and are therefore, condemned by every well-meaning individual, as these guys are hell-bent in pulling down, through blackmail, some targeted officials and men of reputable and impeccable value, over every slightest provocation, especially, when their immediate stomach needs are not met.

“The presumptuous claims and blackmail by one Charles Omusuku, saying that Dango Matthew, is refraining and boycotting  public meeting and functions organised by the NDDC, because he has soiled his hands and scared of reprisal attack from aggrieved youths is delusional and deceptive, as it’s all targeted at maligning, assassinating and defaming the long-built reputation and character of Mr. Dango, who have worked so hard to be where he is today,” he said.

The group added: “Dango is friendly and very humble person, level-headed, always apt in discharging his duties and responsibilities fervently. As a result, the attention of the general public and all relevant authorities are therefore drawn to discountenance and disregard the Characters of Charles Omusuku and his likes, in their unwarranted call for the sack of Dango, as this is not emanating from the true Niger Delta Stakeholders.

“This call is known to be coming from the enemies of our region, to spoil and smear the good work and efforts of the current NDDC Board.”

The ethnic youth leaders further warned Omusuku from further maligning the image of leaders and youths from the region.

“We are calling on Charles Omusuku and his cohorts to desist forthwith, in this  malicious adventure and should go and look for a proper means of livelihood  and engagements, other than threatening the lives of individuals, private and public establishments, for his or their daily survival. We would not fold our hands and watch few individuals, with their unsatisfied greed, smear, betray and ruin the good and interest of the generality of the people, especially our teaming youths, due to their covetous and greedy algorithms,” the group stated.

They further affirmed their support for the NDDC board led by Dr Samuel Ogbuku and the Special Adviser on Youths, Mr Dango Mathew.

“In conclusion, the Rivers State Ethnic Youth Leaders Council (RSEYLC), the  apex indigenous ethnic youths in Rivers State, reaffirms our confidence in Dr.  Samuel Ogboku’s Management Team of the Niger Delta Development  Commission (NDDC) and his Special Adviser on Youth (SA) Matthew Dango,  for their relentless efforts, determination and contributions in bringing about a  peaceful and prosperous Niger Delta, in line with the fulfillment of Mr.  President’s Renewed Hope Agenda,” they said.
