LG Polls: Past students’ leaders urge Yamaabana to run for Khana chairmanship

The leadership of the Past Student Leaders Coalition for Sim (PASLEACS) has joined the growing number of groups urging  Dr Legborsi Yamaabana, President of the Ogoni Youth Federation and Supervisor for Youths in Khana Local Government, to run for the office of Chairman of Khana Local Government Area in the upcoming October 5th, 2024 Local Government elections.

This call was made during a courtesy visit to Yamaabana in Port Harcourt the group led by its  National Coordinator, Comr. Nsane Gospel Nsane.

Nsane, a former Senate President of the National Secretariat of the National Union of Rivers State Students (NURSS), praised  Yamaabana as a dedicated servant leader, likening him to Sir Siminalayi Fubara in Khana.

He stated that their call for Dr. Yamaabana to contest is premised on his numerous contributions to the community which includes; single-handedly sponsoring the training of 150 Ogoni youths in tech skills such as cybersecurity, data analytics, and software development, attraction of  relief materials from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to Khana during the insurgency period, provision of pipe-borne water to selected communities in Khana, and empowerment of hundreds of Khana/Ogoni youths. Most recently, as a caretaker member, he empowered over 100 Khana youths across the 19 wards of the LGA immediately after his appointment.

On his part, Dr Stanley Kuebari Nelson, the Khana Coordinator, commended Yamaabana’s open-door policy and promised to mobilize support across Khana if he decides to run.

In his response, Yamaabana, who is also the Chairman of Rivers State Ethnic Youth Leaders Coalition, expressed appreciation for the recognition of his contributions to society by the group.

He assured the past students’ leaders that he would continue his efforts to positively impact Khana communities.

Regarding their appeal,  Yamaabana promised to respond after his consultations with key stakeholders across the council.

He also urged the coalition to continue their support for the Governor of the state and pledged not to betray the trust and confidence placed in him.
