The Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd), has appealed to the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN Rivers State Chapter and other Christian leaders to play a pivotal role in fostering peace, reconciliation, and stability in the state amid ongoing political and security challenges.
Speaking during a meeting with CAN leaders at the Government House in Port Harcourt, the Sole Administrator emphasized the importance of the Church’s moral guidance in restoring harmony.
He extended his Easter felicitations to the Christian community in the state , describing the season as a reminder of hope, sacrifice, and unity.
A statement signed by the Senior Special Adviser, Rivers State Government, Hector Igbikiowubo, said since the Sole Administrator assumed office on March 20, 2025, he has engaged in broad consultations with civil society, traditional rulers, and local government officials to rebuild trust and foster cooperation.
Ibas urged CAN to leverage its influence by promoting unity across ethnic, political, and denominational divides, encouraging forgiveness and reconciliation among citizens, and serving as a beacon of hope amid fear and uncertainty.
He assured that his administration remains people-centered, accessible and committed to justice and equity.
Responding, Rivers State chapter chairman of CAN, Most Reverend D.E Kala-Dukubo appealed to the Sole Administrator to involve the group in the peace building process.
