RSUBEB Trains 1,000 New Teachers To Drive Quality Basic Education

The Rivers State Universal Basic Education Board (RSUBEB) has completed a two-day orientation programme for 1,000 newly recruited teachers, reaffirming its commitment to raising the standard of basic education in the state.

‎The training which was held between 7th–8th May 2026, in Port Harcourt, inducted  teachers into the policies, ethics, and pedagogical standards of the Rivers State school system.

‎In his welcome address, RSUBEB Chairman, Barr. Samuel Ogeh, urged the teachers to justify their recruitment by being diligent to their duties. He also warned against rejection of postings.

‎He said: “You emerged through a rigorous process. Justify the confidence reposed in you by being diligent, disciplined, and committed to your assigned schools. Rejection of postings and undue lobbying for transfers will not be tolerated.”  

‎Ogeh expressed appreciation to the state governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara for sustaining the recruitment and approving an additional 5,000 teachers to be recruited to close the manpower gap in the sector.

‎Delivering the keynote lecture, a past chairman of the Board,  Dr. Fyneface Akah, charged the newly recruited teachers to be agents of transformation in their classrooms.

‎“Teaching is a vocation of purpose. It demands love, empathy, creativity, resilience, and digital proficiency. Be agents of transformation in your classrooms,” he said.

‎The State Commissioner for Education, Dr. Peters Nwagor, charged the teachers to uphold professionalism, punctuality, and accountability at all times.

‎Port Harcourt Spectator reports that the newly recruited teachers were trained on lesson planning, child protection, school rules and regulations, stakeholder relations, administrative services, public service rules, financial stewardship, and ethical use of digital platforms.
