BREAKING: PDP Senators kick as Omogunwa defects to APC

Pandemonium was averted Wednesday as on the floor of the Senate as the senator representing Ondo South Senatorial district, Yela Omogunwa defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC.

In a letter which was read by Senate President, Bukola Saraki, on the floor of the Senate, Omofunwa thank members of his former party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for giving him the chance to serev the party.

 He explained that the defection would enable him work with the newly-elected governor of Ondo State, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu.

He added that he has consulted widely with members of his constituency before taking the decision.

He was immediately asked by the Senate President to relocate to the APC row amidst cheers from the APC senators.

But there could have been pandemonium as the Senate Minority leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio, through a point of order, sought to declare Omogunwa’s seat vacant.

Akpabio maintained that there was no crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party as claimed by the defected member
